So funny thing about these…I did these with a mouse because I did not have a Wacom tablet at the time. This was also from when I was using photoshop to make a lot of custom brushes. I was applying for any job I could after art school. Playboy, Kanye West, Heavy Metal Magazine….I was able to get some pitch meetings at Frederator, but that was the closest I ever got to having a production budget. It was a painful lesson. But understanding that since the 2008 crash production companies became extremely risk averse. So without a built in audience…it’s gonna be a hard sell. What was initially a re-boot of the whatacartoons program, quickly shifted. A showrunner that already had a successful show was given the budget after two or three shorts had been made.

Sweetums was my nickname when I was younger. I still have a special place in my heart for that character.

My favorite muppet movie is still A Muppet Christmas Carol. I like most of those pictures. But Gonzo and Rizzo guiding you through Dickens story was something I watched over and over and over as a kid on tape. It was a great joy to watch with my kiddos.

These are from my last year of art school around 2011, I was trying to teach myself how to work with flashes interface…now called adobe animate. Looking back at this I can see how I was becoming more influenced by printmaking/blockprints.

It’s been interesting to go back through my old blogs and social media. I am consolidating things here so this will be a compendium of new and old works. I am trying to keep my art postings, comics and Worldbuilding for NEMOS. In the blogging section I’ll be posting things I don’t want to erase if I finally kill a few of my other accounts. I am really interested in Newgrounds community, seeing so many younger artists getting their start and a few grizzled veterans here and there and pros all interacting is really wonderful, KEEP MAKING ART KIDS!!!

This is reductive…but this was my take on the last election cycle.

I remembered that Steve Curcuru was the first person I saw with a laptop in a figure drawing class. At that time I remember him experimenting with brushes. I also remember seeing Dave Creek using the lasso tool to identify/define shadows on some animation he was doing. I took that and ran and tried to innovate/experiment with the lasso tool and a low opacity paint bucket. These caricature/portraits are years later when I took to drawing back into the lassoed areas. iu_1330985_24286509.png

More from the back log. I’ve semi taken down my old tumblr so NG will end up being the place where a lot of this old art lives. I was using the lasso tool a lot more back then. To my knowledge I was the first person at my school to bring a laptop into figure drawing and work directly into photoshop. I guess that would have been 2008-9. I didn’t do it because I thought I was being cool, I was always running out of money so I couldn’t always afford paper. This is from 2012-13
