I am so glad you teach art. :)

I always like me some original airship designs, but I think the drawing also shows off some of the things young artists typically still have to learn/practice (bodies having shades, interesting backgrounds). One look at this and I can tell that the artist understood these things, despite the more stylized nature. "Only those who have mastered the form may disregard it."

(Sorry if this is translated really awkwardly. The internet claims it is a Thomas Mann quote ["Nur wer die Form beherrscht, darf sich darüber hinwegsetzen."], but take that with a big {{Citation needed}} since I cannot find a trustworthy source.)

these ships strike me more as flash gordon type sci fi

It’s science fantasy. Nemos is an alternative earth where after a cosmic cataclysm their world is restructured to be decentralized federated mutual anid networks and only two cities remain of the old authoritarian order eg capitalism/state communism. I don’t think Ive ever seen farmland in the old serials. But I can see one or two that I could see looking like the old die cast toys or exp an inflatable toy from the 80s I just saw in a google search…which also look like airships. More than anything I hope it’s fun to look at and sparks imagination.

@PapaSweets it certainly does both of those things
