We tried using earth pigments to do some slip painting on cups and plates. Ceramics have been on my mind because we are firing our last load right now.
This is what they looked like before. As you can see the firing turned all of the colors earth tones. Which I was warned about, but I wanted to see what would happen. There is some bent appeal in the mad scientist aspect of being an art teacher.
There was still enough contrast that I still consider the end results fairly successful. The ages ranged from 4th to 12th grade.
The 4th graders were a rowdy bunch, but they also have a wonderful energy when they get in the zone.
